The technics of the pastel consists in a dry painting way on a rough and often also tinted subsoil (paper, cardboard). By the color consistency transitions of the colors is possible very softy. Because, nevertheless, the color pigments stick only loose in a powder-like layer on the subsoil, a fixation becomes necessary. Pastel drawings should be framed always with a mount, so that the glass does not lie directly on the color layer.
